 Shalyn Cofer is a devoted mother, passionate advocate, and the visionary founder of Beyond the Diagnosis Foundation. Inspired by her personal journey as a single mother raising a child with disabilities, she established the organization to uplift, empower, and provide tangible support to other single mothers navigating similar challenges

 Shalyn Cofer is a devoted mother, passionate advocate, and the visionary founder of Beyond the Diagnosis Foundation. Inspired by her personal journey as a single mother raising a child with disabilities, she established the organization to uplift, empower, and provide tangible support to other single mothers navigating similar challenges. 

 Shalyn’s dedication extends beyond her nonprofit work. She is a lifelong learner, a community leader, and an advocate for equity, inclusion, and access to resources for families raising children with disabilities. Through her vision and tireless efforts, she continues to inspire hope, build strong support networks, and create opportunities that transform the lives of families in East Texas and beyond.

 Dr. Angie Huber is a dedicated behavioral health leader specializing in services for children and adults with special needs. She serves as Director of Behavioral Health at Hands of Heart Land, where she provided clinical oversight for a multi state clinical team.  She pioneered several program for special needs and loves accepting new ch

 Dr. Angie Huber is a dedicated behavioral health leader specializing in services for children and adults with special needs. She serves as Director of Behavioral Health at Hands of Heart Land, where she provided clinical oversight for a multi state clinical team.  She pioneered several program for special needs and loves accepting new challenges.  Dr. Huber serves as the Medical Director at Laurel Dester Children’s Home  where she uses her expertise to help make a difference in children’s life’s.  As mother of a special needs child, she brings both professional expertise and personal passion to her mission of enhancing quality of life for the special needs community.

Alee Herrera serves as the Marketing & Outreach Director for Beyond the Diagnosis Foundation, Inc. She is a graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University with a degree in Marketing and brings valuable experience in community service and leadership, including her work with the National Honor Society and as a Rotary Club Secretary.

In addition to her professional background, Alee is the owner of The Berry Thing, where her creativity and entrepreneurial spirit shine. Her passion for service and community involvement led her to join Beyond the Diagnosis Foundation, where she is dedicated to strengthening social media outreach, building partnerships, and supporting events that further our mission.

Alee is excited to contribute her skills to help empower single mothers raising children with disabilities and to expand the foundation’s impact across East Texas and beyond.

Ella’s journey with the foundation began long before she officially joined the board—she has generously volunteered her time at every event since the organization’s founding. Her consistent presence, dedication, and willingness to serve made her a natural fit to step into a leadership role where she could extend her impact even further.

As Volunteer Coordinator, Ella is passionate about creating a welcoming, positive, and well-organized experience for every volunteer. She believes that when people come together with compassion and purpose, they can create meaningful change for families and communities.

She brings both administrative skills and a deep personal understanding of the challenges faced by families raising children with disabilities. Mallory began her career as a Special Needs Paraprofessional, spending two years working hands-on with students who required individualized support. As a single mother of two, she also brings lived experience and compassion that align closely with the mission of Beyond the Diagnosis.

Her background and personal journey make her a strong advocate and a vital part of our board, ensuring our work remains both organized and deeply connected to the families we serve.
